A NEW ferry operator will begin Didim to Kos journeys from next Wednesday (June 24), Voices can reveal.

The Bodrum Express company is offering a twice-weekly service every Wednesday and Saturday from Didim’s International Port, which is at the harbour point to the far end of Altinkum’s main beach.

The Bodrum Express run will be organized solely by the Didim-based Love Tour travel agency, with tickets priced around 90 TL (£38, 40 Euros) per person.

Erin Gonul, of Love Tours, said people wanting to catch the ferry on the day could also turn up and buy tickets on the day of their choice if they could not get to Love Tours in time.

He said the ferry would have a capacity of about 116 passengers, with the ferry leaving Altinkum at 10.15am and returning from Kos at 7pm. The journey takes about one hour.

The Bodrum Express, established in 1979, has a number of ferry operations from Bodrum to the Greek Islands and has also operated the Didim to Bodrum ferry for several years.

The news of a second ferry operator comes on the heels of Yeşıl Marmaris plans to begin operating Didim to Kos before the end of the month. Their operation, times and costings have yet to be announced

ALTINKUM is one of the best package holiday destinations for British families, a new survey claims.

The resort sneaked into seventh place in a list of package holidaymakers' favourites based on atmosphere, cost of food and drink, things to do, restaurants and nightlife and an overall rating.

Benidorm, the traditional favourite of the bucket and spade generation, was hailed as Britain's top package holiday spot having cleaned up its lager lout and chips-with-everything image.

The results were compiled from thousands of customer reviews by the UK's biggest travel company, Thomson, as a guide for would-be holidaymakers going away this summer.

A spokesman said: "You've read the brochure but what's it really like? These honest holiday reviews are from past travelers and give the low-down on the food, the location and pretty much the whole shebang."
