Shopping in Altinkum

Smoking Pipes and Evil Eyes make excellent gifts to bring back home. Haggle with them and offer at least 60% of the asked price.

You will find these at various markets and even at some of the tourist area's in shops. Lovely bath towels with embroidery on them, which also makes lovely gifts to bring back home.

There is also a large market held in the village centre of Didim each Saturday morning where you can find everything from Apples to Adidas clothing.

Do yourself a favour and buy some of the fruit out there. It tastes divine and is so fresh and sweet you will want to stay forever. Just remember to eat it all before leaving the country as you are not allowed to bring it back. You will also find wonderful cheeses, honey, olives (of course) and olive oil.

There are also the main supermarket chains such as Migros, Carrefour, and Tansas on the main Ataturk Boulevard.

Shopping Outside Altinkum

A trip inland to the designer label discount stores will ensure some great bargains. Soke factory outlet shops are located approximately 53kms from Altinkum (3o minute drive), along the main road on the way to Kusadasi. There are 4 outlets next to each other where you will find a range of stores including Quiksilver, Adidas, Nike, Benetton, Billabong, Levis and Toys R Us. The outlets can be reached by dolmus. Take the dolmus to Soke and from there you can take a dolmus (indi bindi) on to the outlets, or you can join one of the many organised trips.
