Shopping opportunities, in haggling Turkish style, abound along the pedestrianised seafront of Altinkum, which is packed with souvenir shops, jewellery stores and boutiques selling copies of designer clothing. The main centre is Dolphin Square, and there is a modern shopping complex called the Didyma Shopping Mall not far away.

Smoking Pipes and Evil Eyes make excellent gifts to bring back home. Haggle with them and offer at least 60% of the asked price.

You will find these at various markets and even at some of the tourist area's in shops. Lovely bath towels with embroidery on them, which also makes lovely gifts to bring back home.

A trip inland to the designer label discount stores will ensure some great bargains. There is also a large market held in the village centre of Didim each Saturday morning where you can find everything from Apples to Adidas clothing.

Do yourself a favour and buy some of the fruit out there. It tastes divine and is so fresh and sweet you will want to stay forever. Just remember to eat it all before leaving the country as you are not allowed to bring it back. You wil also find wonderful cheeses, honey, olives (of course) and olive oil.

There are also the main supermarket chains such as Migros, Gima, and Tansas on the main Ataturk Boulevard.
